This module helps you to summarize information concisely yet vividly using precise vocabulary and description. The reading activity discusses the importance of being brief and precise when communicating ideas, providing information or describing things in a professional context, be it in speech or writing. Practise reading comprehension strategies and skills and take a note of any words and expressions you are unfamiliar with. Three listening comprehension activities provide examples of descriptions given in the fields of hospitality and business, in interactive and presentation formats. As you practise your listening comprehension skills, take a note of any words and expressions you are unfamiliar with. The grammar component of this module reviews reported speech, which makes it possible for you to communicate someone else’s ideas or words by paraphrasing or quoting them. Finally, you will review and practise referring verbs and vocabulary items representing different degrees of precision.
